Through a friend of a friend, so to speak, we both managed to meet up at the Abbey Hotel over tea on the 25th Jan with someone who has experienced a type of lymphoma which was present in his brain. From what we could establish, this is a different type to Colin's but the Chemotherapy was similar if not the same. The only difference being that following Chemo this person was given a bone marrow transplant and is now on Rituximab has a maintenance measure. We both felt it was good to be able to speak to someone who had also been treated (initially at least) under Haematology at Worcester Royal, and who could empathise with the ongoing effects of the Chemotherapy regimen and the brain lymphoma. Some common features being poor body temperature control, and irrational behaviour.
Colin has volunteered two further Mondays at Regents College Library. He was thankful that the computer-related task had been solved by someone else, and so he was usefully occupied inserting covers in the videos and doing some preparation work on new books so that they could be catalogued.
Following a chance meeting last week and a subsequent 'in depth' discussion on how his skills could be used, Colin has recommenced volunteering at the Lyttelton Well this afternoon. Another book-related task - well, preparing labels for the bookshelves at least. Colin found this enjoyable, meeting up with his old friends again, whilst being able to do something useful.
Colin and Jane.
