And so, with the help of a friend who also turned up to visit, I wheeled him off in the direction of the restaurant. The chair is not the easiest thing to steer, so going that far was probably enough for all of us! At least it was a change of scenery for Colin, as he's been in the ward for nearly two weeks staring at the same bit of wall.
The physios had visited him in the morning, and whatever they're doing is working. Today was the first time I'd seen Colin sitting up straight - he was definitely not leaning in his chair! Albeit by the end of the afternoon he was getting tired, although he did manage to eat his tea in the chair before finally giving up and needing to go back into bed. Today was certainly a step change for the better and once back in bed he had a significant less of a lean to the left than yesterday. The nausea has also abated thank goodness, so he's eating and drinking again without that worry!
I have taken in a small writing pad and biro today in an attempt to jot things down to help Colin remember. The intention is to start a new page for each day (duly dated etc) and to record who has visited and what they've brought/spoken about, ....and anything else that Colin needs to remember or might help him understand things. So, if you visit, perhaps you could write your names in the book on the day's page, and any other information that would help Colin remember you've been.
