The frustrating bit was waiting for transport back to the Ward - almost 2 hours! - he didn't get back until nearly 2 p.m. missing the dinner he'd ordered! What a system! However he did get fed - a meal was brought from the restaurant eventually.
His Ward has been very noisy today - both staff and visitors, and so Colin was feeling fairly fractious to say the least when the doctor arrived to carry out the lumbar puncture. This was carried out sometime this afternoon and all went well. Colin said it was much less painful than the bone marrow biopsy! When this had been done, a mixture of the Chemo drugs (Cytarabine and Methotrexate) was administered intrathecally. So far, he has felt no side effects from any of this.
The next stage is the start of the Chemo thru' the Hickman Line. This is scheduled for 3 a.m. tomorrow morning! (So another disturbed night's sleep!). The next 'shot' will be from 8 a.m. for 3 hours (I think that's what he said). So I will check tomorrow before visiting, just in case he's not up to receiving visitors, even me!
I'll keep you all posted here, but if anyone would like to phone me that's absolutely fine - it's nice to have a chat too!
Jane.
