So, into A&E is was where he was on a trolley in the corridor for hours and hours. Eventually he was transferred into the MAU and during the early hours started having fits - Jane was told he had two seizures. The CT scan they did showed no signs of a bleed but by Monday when Jane visited his conscious levels were not good. But on suspicion of a swelling on the brain he was started on a drug to rid the brain of the fluid and re-started on the steroid, so by yesterday he was mostly awake all day, and talking again (albeit a bit rubbish at times).
He had an MRI Tuesday but it was not conclusive as Colin couldn't keep still enough so the oncologist at Cheltenham (who read the scan) can't say 100% it's disease return, but at a guess that's most likely cause. As yet Colin is still on saline drip - he can't swallow. A chest X-Ray has been requested to check the feeding tube they inserted on Monday, but he still hasn't had it. And he's been referred to speech and language therapy, but Jane will be surprised if they ever turn up (they didn't last time he was in hospital!).
So, it's a waiting game and until he's well enough to be discharge he won't be able to see the oncologist at Cheltenham.
Will try to keep you all posted!
Jane.
