So we spent yesterday afternoon at Cheltenham General where he underwent fitting for a face mask - uniquely moulded to his head. He was then taken into the simulator so that precise measurements could be taken and marked on the mask ready for treatment.
The radiotherapy will start on Thursday 23rd May and will continue for 10 days, missing out the weekends and the Bank Holiday. Treatment is only 10 minutes long and he will probably be in the department only about 20 minutes in total providing the Linear Accelerator is working and there are no delays.
If there is anyone out there who could help Jane transport Colin to the Hospital on the days she can't, that would be much appreciated!
Just after lunch yesterday we both attended the Hammer Out Brain Tumours support group at the Maggie's Centre. This was great and we were able to find out from others about radiotherapy to the brain and how they coped. The support group is invaluable for this sort of thing.
